CHARITY DAY AT BRIDPORT BOWLING CLUB

Saturday 27th July

The weather couldn’t have been better for our annual charity day.  This year the proceeds were split between the Alzheimer’s Charity and a project for the Club.

9.00 am saw our men’s captain, Paul, in the kitchen preparing the pork for pulled pork rolls.  By 2.00 pm the club had been decorated with pink and turquoise balloons and all the members arrived sporting a great collection of pink and/or turquoise attire ranging from onesies – shorts – bright shirts and lots of pink hats.  Rosemary had organised all the teams, not an easy task, and took charge of organising us all into our rinks, again not easy!  Mike Solomon, our men’s vice captain lead his team to victory following the specific instructions as laid down by Rosemary.  We were lucky this year as our ladies captain and fines master was away at a wedding so we didn’t get fined for our numerous misdemeanors!!

It was great to see members of our indoor club coming down to watch the fun and enjoy a drink in the sunshine.Following our delicious pulled pork rolls, the huge raffle and auction took place.  At the end of the day we raised just over £700 with donations still coming in as I write this article

As a Club we have had a very successful year so far with the weather being very kind to us and at least 16 new members joining us.  This has been great for our one day competitions where all the new members have been joining in and competing.  We have also managed to reinstate our ladies second County League team.  This included some new members along with established ladies and I am pleased to say they are gelling well and flying the flag for Bridport.
