The leagues are slowly drawing to a close with just one men’s match this Monday.  Bridport A away to Lyme Regis.  Just two points for the winning rink of Duthie-Jones, Edwards, Seadon and Langdon.  They were nip and tuck all the way through but a six count on the 15th end put them in the lead.

A friendly away to Somerton on Wednesday saw Bridport with 2 winning rinks and 1 drawn rink.  Well done to Trevor Deadman-Spall, Denise Rhodes and Cheryl Mackenzie with top rink.  They were trailing for the first half of the game but drew equal at nine ends and picked up 13 shots from end 12 to win comfortably.

Full house again at Bridport for the South Dorset League.  Bridport A were home to Greenhill A and Bridport B home to Wellworthy.  The A team had one winning rink, one losing and one drawn with the overall points going to Greenhill.  Dave Smith along with Chris Taylor, Dan Hoskins and Paul Tibble were winning 18-5 on the 12th end and then the opposition began to claw back the points with Bridport not scoring again until the 21st end when they picked up a 4 count to win 22-21,  Not a good evening for Bridport with no winning rinks for the B team.  Brian Stone along with John Carter, Jim Greenfield and Chris Coram were unlucky as they were in front for the whole game but the jack was moved on the last end and the opposition picked up five shots so winning by 2. The evening was rounded off by lots of chatter in the clubhouse where all the players enjoyed a drink and rolls and pasties provided by Marion who had been busy in the kitchen.

An away game to South Petherton brought the week to a close. A lovely afternoon with a delicious tea and honours equal with two winning rinks.  Top rink for Bridport was ladies captain, Margaret Strange, John Carter and Bob Taylor.
