Wednesday saw a return friendly against Ottery St. Mary Club. The usual 2 winning and 2 losing rinks but the overall shots to Bridport thanks to a runaway victory for Bill Duthie-Jones, Sandy Peters, Mel Griffiths and Jill Willcox.
Saturday saw three Bridport ladies travel to Blandford for the quarter and semi-finals of the Benevolent Triples. Although they didn’t manage to reach the semi-finals it was a great achievement to get so far so well done to Fran Morgan, Cheryl Mackenzie and Lyn Craddock.
Saturday afternoon saw the traditional end to the season with the second Captain’s charity game, this time supporting the Weldmar Hospice. The weather helped to create a party atmosphere where 18 ends were played with a tea break at half-time. Playing positions were drawn and played with lots of laughter and banter in the warm sunshine. At the end of it Jill Willcox was the highest scoring lady and Nick Dearnly taking the honours for the men. After adding up all the monies, including the proceeds of the raffle, the sum of £328 was raised and will be sent to Weldmar in due course.
Sunday provided a superb ending to our season with six Bridport men travelling to Blandford for the final of the Percy Baker Competition, which they won in style with a win on both rinks. Congratulations to Mike Craddock, Mike Smith, Bob Taylor, Barry Shortland, Dave Smith and Chris Thorne.
